Day Skipper Practical

RYA Sail Cruising Scheme

Why Atlantic Sailing

Our base in Marina Lanzarote Arrecife provides the best training grounds for a RYA Day Skipper course in the Canary Islands:

  • Our Marina offers plenty of room to practice parking and boat-handing in confined spaces.

  • The Marina is nestled within the port of Arrecife, which is a commercial port and has enough traffic to give students a more diverse experience.

  • Going out to sea and coming back in port requires a well planned and executed pilotage plan.

  • The marinas we will visit: Puerto Calero, Puerto del Carmen, Marina Rubicon and various anchorages are all close by. Maximum 2-hour passages, which leaves plenty of time to practice sailing and manoeuvring skills.

  • Our instructors will set up a clear and well-structured teaching environment. They will motivate and coach you; you won't be assessed. They will not only teach you the skills, but also empower you to use them effectively, for which our process management approach is a great and proven effective tool. Eventually it is Seamanship we are looking for.

  • The seas and winds are moderate all year around, and yes, we also do sunshine all year around.
