Doing your RYA Competent Crew course out of Arrecife, Lanzarote will greatly contribute to the "having a good time" factor.

We offer sunshine, slight to moderate seas, moderate winds and attractive ports to visit each within a couple of hours sail.
Add to that: nice and sheltered anchorages, beautiful beaches and all the great amenities of Marina Lanzarote and the town of Arrecife.
Abundant wildlife: Dolphins, whales, turtles, flying fish and more.
And last but not least: our instructors will look after you, your safety and your wellbeing. They teach you in a friendly and respectful manner, aiming for their main objective: adding a new member to the sailing community.

Course Description

This course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers.

Experience living on board and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course is hands on. You are the crew - without you the sails won't go up and the boat won't be steered.

By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday.

If you have done the Start Yachting course, this course can be completed in 3 or 4 days.

Course content

Basic seamanship including: knowledge of sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails, sail handling, rope-work, fire precautions and fighting, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general duties, manners and customs, rules of the road, dinghies.

Ability after course

Able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routine.

Price for 6 days/7 nights on board:

Euro 1.200 per person based on your own private cabin.

If you're two (a couple or friends) sharing a cabin, we offer a 5% Cabin Sharing discount.

Book 2 weeks of Combined Competent Crew and Day Skipper Practical Training and get a 5% discount.
