Sailing Netherlands

Our homeport will be Enkhuizen. A picturesque 17th century city, easily accessible from Amsterdam by train. Centrally located on the Ijsselmeer, the large inner lake, it is the perfect starting point for visiting several very attractive towns, all from the same era, the so called Dutch “Golden Age” (not so golden for many non-Dutch btw). Their marinas are usually located within the buzzing historic city centers.

The northern part of the Ijsselmeer connects to the Waddenzee, the challenging northern waters of the Netherlands. Navigating here requires solid passage planning and timing. The drying heights scenery is stunning while the island destinations of Texel, Vlieland and Terschelling offer great natural beauty, endless beaches and small island charm.

A long North Sea passage will bring Amsterdam in reach, from where an easy day sail will get us back to the homeport of Enkhuizen.

Richard has sailed and raced this so called “Rondje Noord Holland” numerous times when he was living in Amsterdam. Based on weather, available time and objectives it can be cut short for leisurely sailing or extended to the max providing a real challenge.

The week itinerary will be based upon weather and the experience and objectives of the crew.
